Stainless plate price has two parts: a base price set by the mill and an alloy surcharge that moves monthly with nickel, chromium and molybdenum prices on the London Metal Exchange and other benchmarks. Quotes are often valid only until month end for this reason.
Extras are added for thickness, width, finish, cutting, testing, film and small quantity. Duplex and 316 carry higher surcharges than 304 because of molybdenum and nickel content.
International quotes are given FOB, CFR or CIF a named port; confirm which, plus packing, tolerance basis (theoretical or actual weight) and payment terms. Anti-dumping duties apply to some origins in some markets and can change the landed cost sharply.
